COMMISSION INFORMATION

This is a wedding portrait I made for a friend in 2002. He is portrayed as a robot, his wife as a Barbie doll, and his son as a cherub. We were friends during our respective careers as graduate students in fine art at Indiana University. He was in the sculpting program and I was in painting.

He gave me many of the toys that garnish his head in this portrait; some were even made by him.

This is a French Style portrait I did for a friend in 2003. It is titled, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, and it evokes that transitional period in the late 1900's when Romanticism was giving way to Modernism. The figurative style is an ode to Tissot, whose bright pallete was quite a departure from the brown sauce of eariler French Salon painting. The right side of the painting is pointillist, and includes a reasonable facsimile of Seurat's rendering of the Eiffel Tower.
